Yup, I did it. Not having adequate coverage on the north end of the cities, I purchased a XPR 8300 and placed it on the air. Jerry Dorf said “use 444.23125 CC 3” so thats how it is programmed. For now the antenna is at the 25 foot level with the machine running at 30 watts into the duplexers (heatsinks redone and fans running constant). I created a model on Radio Mobile which shows there should be mobile coverage on I-35 from the 35E/35W split south of Forest Lake up to North Branch and from I-35 east on Hwy 8 to the top of the hill at Taylors Falls.
I am hoping someday the machine will find a home on a water tower to increase the footprint. But for now I am happy with the results.
